Today's Word:
You will protect us, Lord.

“Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
He told them, “Elijah will indeed come first and restore all things,
yet how is it written regarding the Son of Man
that he must suffer greatly and be treated with contempt?
But I tell you that Elijah has come
and they did to him whatever they pleased,
as it is written of him.”

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned,
but whoever does not believe has already been condemned,
because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
1 Cor 5:6b-8
Brothers and sisters:
Do you not know
that a little yeast leavens all the dough? Clear out the old yeast, so that you
may become a fresh batch of dough, inasmuch as you are unleavened. For our
paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed.
Therefore, let us celebrate the feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast
of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and
truth.
Brothers and
sisters:
No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. There are different
kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of
service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who
produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the
Spirit
is given for some benefit.
As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though
many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into
one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given
to drink of one Spirit.
