At home with family members the day I traveled to Rome, and it also shows maize plants drying up because of lack of rains which is very common in my area and Kitui diocese as a whole.

At home during the funeral of my grand-mother.

2007 Mission Appeal: St. Patrick Fathers

July 7-8, 2007, Father Josephat M. Ndunda of Kenya visited Sacred Heart / St. Dominic Parish on a fundraising mission on behalf of the St. Patrick Fathers for our annual Mission Appeal Sunday. The St. Patrick Missionary Society was officially established in 1932. The first missionaries were sent to Africa in 1939 (southern Nigeria), to Kenya in 1951 and to Kitui in 1956. Fr. Josephat's home parish-Kavisuni parish was started in 1976. It is due to the work and sponsorship of these missionaries that Fr. Josephat is now a priest, and studying spiritual theology in Rome.

The photos on this page are from Fr. Josephat's home and family in the Kitui Diocese in Kenya. During his homily, Fr. Josephat told us a simple story about his experience growing up in Kenya, a poor country in Africa where many people do not have the basic necessities of life, food, clothing, education, or even clean water.

A message from Fr. Josephat:

My visit to your parish was my first in my first visit to the U.S.A. This therefore was my first mission appeal to make for the St. Patrick Fathers. I was very much impressed by the reception and care I received from Rev. Richard and the parishioners. I also liked very much the music and the liturgy in general. You really worship God with all your gifts and talents.

I was also impressed by the general organization of everything and the interaction of different cultures and people in the church, that shows the unity, love, peace, respect, joy, cheerfulness, acceptance, just to mention but a few that exists among you. I was also impressed by your generosity, readiness and concern for the poor people of the world, the suffering, the sick, the handicapped, the hungry and the thirsty.

I would like to thank heartily the Bishop, director of propagation of faith, the pastor Rev. Richard, all parish leaders, and all the Christains. May you keep up the good spirit which is in everyone of you. Keep growing in faith, love, and hope. And may the Holy Spirit always guide you in everything you do. Open your hearts to God always. May God bless you all, your families, friends, and visitors.

I will keep you all and your missions in my prayers and I request you to pray for me, St. Patrick's Fathers, the Church in Kenya and Africa as a whole.

Josephat.

This is my mum in Migwani parish where I worked as Fr-in-charge for one and half years, last parish I worked before going to Rome. She had come to visit and she is making a traditional basket called "Kiondo" in Kikamba-my mother tongue.

This is my sister's tailoring machine.

This is home with brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and visitors with a lamp we use for lighting our houses which uses kerosene.

Here's home and two visitors who came from Migwani parish to visit mum.

This is at the home of our first born.

Outside St. Mary's C. Church, are two ophans leaning on the wall of the Church, and standing with me are three parishioners, my sister and my cousin.
